Reviews:Pros Lots of colours, long lasting, easy to apply Cons Red does not look so good on me Full Review I recently tried Maybelline Greatwear Lip Colour again. I don’t know why I ever stopped using it. I really like this lipstick. I’m usually a pink lipstick person, so this time I decided to try something a bit more dramatic. I picked up one in a dark red shade (Crimson) and a brownish/wine shade (Violight Brown). Specifics Maybelline Greatwear products are part of their long-wearing makeup line. They include foundation, concealers, and eye makeup as well as lip liner and lipstick. They stay on much longer than average makeup products and the lipstick claims to last 8 hours. There are 25 shades of this lip colour from the lightest, Marble, to the darkest, Walnut. It’s triple conditioned and really is very creamy in texture. But it’s also a light texture and not at all heavy or cakey. It lasts for several hours, but I would not go so far as saying it has lasted me 8 hours. I do prefer the wine colour because it’s a frost, while the red is a matte shade which is just too dull for my taste because I look better with a bit of shine. The bright colour is also not right for me. The instructions on the tube says not to blot it and that it sets in 60 seconds. I have not had to blot anyway since it goes on so light. I've never had any of it come off on a glass or anything else. Packaging One thing I like about Greatwear Lip Colour is that it’s a long, thin shape rather than a thick tube. It’s very easy to put on with its flattened and slanted tip. My Thoughts I prefer this to most of my other lipsticks, especially some of the Revlon brands which are thick, gooey, and have an awful taste and smell. I had almost forgotten why I never wear red, but when I saw this on at first, I knew. It’s just too shocking a colour for me although it looks great on many people. The fact that it was so matte did not help. I tissued off some of it until it more of a light stain and put a touch of glossy colour just in the center of my lower lip to make it look more presentable. But the Crimson colour really is a nice red shade. This lip colour works nicely as a stain because it does not have the thick texture of most lipstick. It’s not as moist as lip balm or gloss, but is plenty moist for me and I haven’t had any chapping. It’s getting to be time to throw away some of my old lipsticks since they have accumulated so much. This one will be a keeper, but I will probably have to try out some of the other colours.
