The Q™ game

The game is simple to learn. Each player has to make a path from the centre of the board to both ends. There are two identical sets of tiles – one set is black, the other white.

Players decide whether they will play white or black. Each player takes seven tiles at random from the bag and places them on their rack. When one tile has been played, another is taken from the bag. Because the tiles are taken at random, a player will be holding both their own tiles and their opponent’s.

At each turn, you can play on your own path or your opponent’s, depending on the tiles on your rack. Strategically, you are playing on your path to get to both ends and on your opponents path to stop them getting to both ends.

There are three levels of play - at the simplest, children from as young as five can play. By gradually adding the more complex tiles, the game can be played at tournament level.
